The Greater DuBois Area has the relaxed lifestyle of a small town that appeals to visitors and residents alike.  Conveniently located in Northwest Pennsylvania on Interstate 80, it is less than a day's drive from major cities in the Midwest, East Coast, and Canada.  That makes DuBois a convenient stop for travelers, and a perfect home base to explore our neck of the woods--the Pennsylvania Wilds.  In exchange for our relaxed lifestyle, we sacrifice crowded population, congested commuter traffic, and high crime, but we do not sacrifice good health care, education, or productivity. 

DuBois Regional Medical Center is an award winning hospital, our community's largest employer, and serves patients  from 10 counties.  Independent living, assisted living, home health care and nursing homes are all options for seniors.
Penn State University, DuBois Business College, and Triangle Tech are right here in DuBois, with Lock Haven University Clearfield, South Hills School of Business & Technology and Clarion University a short commute away.  These schools not only train our high school graduates, but they also provide continuing education to help our local business owners and employees compete in the global economy.  Businesses are diverse--producing paper, lumber, food products, concrete, utility meters, machinery, equipment, which are shipped to customers around the world.  There is probably at least one item you use that was manufactured here--copy paper, gas utility meter, a part in your automobile, snowblower or lawn mower, beer bottles...  DuBois grew from industries based on its natural resources--timber, coal, and natural gas.  These industries are still important to the local economy, with expansion in the natural gas industry due to our location within the Marcellus Shale region.
